2014-06-02 Teslin - Whitehorse

Oh, I forgot to comment that we added 100 miles on our trip because the projected National Park campground was close so we went on to Teslin. Now we had to Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon with 26K people out of 36K in the territory.
We ran along a couple beautiful lakes.

The DIRT road that our GPS sent us down. We flagged down a pickup and the lady grinned and said "your GPS is wrong." It was 13KM off the correct location for our campground. Dave got to back up the trailer a second time into a side road so we could turn around. This time it was a blind side (passenger side) backing. Again he did well and had a good feel when it was going off track. He corrected and we got it done. Back down the dirt road. Oh they are already dirty so who cares.

Finally made it there.
I was asked if I had see the "Vane". Yes this is the wind vane at the front of the airport. It does rotate and with only a small amount of wind. Center balance has to be precise and great bearings.
Sea planes, why am I surprised.

 Private sea planes.
 Yukon river.
Great hiking trails and the people bridge. Dave took a hike here one evening.
When we pulled in we saw two young men with a problem. Their battery was dead. They had tried to push it back so they could bump start it down the hill. There was enough of a slope that it rolled into the guard rail. It was easy to get to my chain vice the jumper cables. So I put RED in 4x4 low for control and slowly and easily pulled them off the guardrail and up the hill. They got it started with just a slight down hill roll. Reminds me of my younger days.

We hit it off with Rose the manager of Hi Country who was also a Natural Path making her own suave. She gave me some for my knee and I truly believe it helped.

They invited us down to the King Kopper  on Tuesday night for Beer and Wings. It was fun to meet their friends and talk with the locals. Locals if you can say three young 22-29 year old German lads touring this area. Melody (41 year old Big Rig Driver) came in and joined us. She fell last December on the icy side walk and broke her left foot taking her off the road. We had to share a hug, two cripples. Great people.
