Black Hills SD.

I made reservations at Gillette, Wy. until after the 4th weekend so I would have a place to park. Monday the 8th I traveled to Spearfish, SD. to use it as a base camp for site seeing the Black Hills area.
Gillette is a MAJOR open pit coal mining area with about 30% of the coal coming from here.

As I said I used Spearfish as a base camp. So Tuseday I visited Devils Tower.

Note the two climbers center picture.

This one was about six inches away from me and had an itch. I guess it was allergic to me.
Wednesday I drove to Mt. Rushmore. I messed up with my route planning and found out later my drive in had me closer to Crazy Horse monument then on the way out. I realized I was on the wrong side when I was headed back home to let Nikki out. Next time.

My drive in from the West I stopped at a look out and finally noticed this over my left shoulder.

The man that took this was a perfectionist. He even laid on his back on the concrete floor to get the angle

Watching the Discover channel and a program on Sturgis bike rally they showed this shot. So I took 16 South thru the first tunnel, turned around and shot these two pictures. Boy is that a narrow twisty road. One bridge loops back under itself. I was tight with the dually so no way would I tow Monty on it. Besides the tunnels are 14' wide and 12' tall.

Saw this one on the four lane heading out of town. Bigger than it looks.

Sunday I head to some (3) National Forest campground with plans to be at the MOC Central Plains Rally near Omaha the last week of this month.

Safe Travels All.
