Bad Lands National Park

My next door neighbor at Spearfish owned property up Spearfish Canyon which is not surrounded by the Black Hills National Forest. I went up and helped him drain one of the watering Vats.

These posts were harvested from a forest fire area where the fire sealed the sap into the wood allowing it to last much longer.

 Some of his heard
The cabin he was born in.
 Spearfish Fish Hatchery
 Fingerlings
 8 to 10" rainbow trout

Badland - The French named this the Bad Lands because it was bad to travel through. The Dakota Indians name it "mako sica" meaning "land bad".

My 5th wheel above the building. I am on an electric only site. with 85F temp I needed the Air Conditioner for Nikki.

The western "South of the Boarder" for the eastern folks.

  1. Some great pix John. Interesting colors and light/shadow on the Badlands. I hope you got some surf and turf on your trip up into the hills. All that beef on the hoof and the trout... fire up the grill I say!
