Parked in NE Iowa at Zig's Farm
I left the Bad Lands on the 16th of July. The drive into Nebraska was lots of open land and rolling hills. I liked seeing the hay bails next to the road. They don't let any go to waste.
I stayed at two Nebraska State Parks. This is Ogallala. I did not realize Nebraska requires a park pass in addition to the RV lot rental fee. I had to pay it at Fort Kearney State Park.
I had to pay it at Fort Kearney State Park. I went to North Platte and visited the Golden Spike, Union Pacific switching yard. This is where East and West bound trains are assembled. The white building is their visitor observation point.
This gives you a feeling of the size of the two switching yards.
The "Hump" switching is impressive. They push the cars up the hill and then auto decouple. They then roll down to the proper spur for assembly. Two measurement points use the time to pass both and those calculations the friction required to allow them to make their designated spur. 80% of the cars even hook up. The three tank cars are on their way. The building on the left is the control center.
Next I moved to the MOC Central Plains Rally. A great time seeing old friends and meeting new.
The last day of July I arrived at Zig's Farm. Zig has the rail road car bridge I have to cross. The truck duals have about 3" of clearance. Here I am parked for a while. This picture was taken from Zig's web cam. You can see the nose of the trailer and the truck at the far end of the barn. Zig wants to keep me away from the house (LOL).
Safe travel all.

Glad that you enjoyed Ogallala, North Platte, & Kearney. Looks like everyone ate well at the Great Plains Rally. Your spot behind the barn looks quite cozy. Enjoy your month relaxing in the Corn Patch. See you soon in Goshen.
