Historic Columbia River Road, Mt Hood and Ridgefield tour

Saturday 6/2/2013 Chuck & Judy and I went south for a tour of the Historic Columbia River Road and Mt Hood. As we drove into Or I took this shot of Mt Hood. Only the tip is in the clouds. The later in the day the lower the clouds dropped as you will see.
The was our first stop on the Historic Columbia River Road. No we could not tow my Monty. 25 foot length maximum for this road.

The view up river and then down river from the observation deck.

Further down the road. Many Falls here are two

The sun effected this photo of the next falls

We stopped at the Bonneville Lock & Dam and fish hatchery.
They build fish ladders around the power plant and dam before each were built. Then the fish ladders were upgraded.
Fish swimming up the ladder from outside.

Underwater view of them swimming by.
An Osprey had a nest on one of of the towers.

Next was the Fish Hatchery. Rainbow trout

Herman the 75 year old Sturgeon about 10 feet long.
Next we stopped at Hood River for lunch and watched the Wind Surfers and Sail Surfers (with airfoils)

They had two Tall Ships with Canon battle going on. The sail boat had to get close to observe.

As I said earlier Mt Hood Ski lodge was almost socked in. This looks up towards the top.
 Some of the ski trails
 Snow Cat
Liquid Snow on the way down.

Today we toured Ridgefield after breakfast. It was a beautiful day and some riders also wanted breakfast.

We have passed this mans wood pile twice so we stopped to document it. He stated first impression is every thing.

Then we when to this National Park
This is a replica and used by local Native Indians. They build this building out of Cedar slabs which they split with bone chisels. The planks are about 3 to 4 inches thick.

Las we saw MAMA Oak. Chuck and Judy give you an idea how big she is.

Tuesday we head west arriving at the next MOC rally in Deer Park, north of Spokane on Wednesday.
