Four nights of Boon Docking

I left Coos Bay moving up the Oregon coast planning on stopping at a Casino in Florence, OR. This Casino RV Overnight Parking was tight and also full. They had an RV show and carnival down town. So I continued up another 70 miles to Chinook Winds Casino, Lincoln City, OR. As you can see it was right on the water.

Sunday I moved inland for a change of scenery and on the recommendation of the Coos Bay manager. I went inland about 25 miles to Grand Ronde, OR staying at the Split Mountain Casino RV Overnight Park. This one was much nicer as was the Casino. This is a one month old 28 foot Salmon boat with 250 horse Yamaha and 9.9 trolling motor. While here I tried their Sunday Brunch Buffet and had salmon fixed three different ways. UMM good.
The inland scenery was different. I saw the evidence of logging and the land recovering. Worth the trip.

I took the secondary road back to hiway 101 north to Tillamook. My GPS went horse telling me "winding road ahead" and "sharp curve ahead". It was a nice drive along a stream. Ann would have wanted to stop and play in the COLD water.
I spend Monday and Tuesday parked in RV spot at the Tillamook Air Muesum. As you can tell by the hanger it was a Navy Blimp base. This brought back memories because we were resided on the Marine Corps Air Station Tustin, CA. Blimp base in the 80s.

My other reason for stopping was to visit the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Umm good cheese and ice cream.
The weather has been good to me but Monday night and all of Tuesday it was overcast and intermittent rain. I am told this is typical Oregon weather. I ran the heater all day today and the solar panels did not do well recharging the batteries.

Tomorrow I move up to Camp Riley Military Reservation for two nights. Camp Riley is on the Pacific Coast and just south of the mouth of the Columbia river which separates Oregon and Washington.

  1. Oh my!! Look at how that plane dwarfs the Montana. We've never stopped at the air museum in all the times we've traveled past it. Probably should next time. Happy travels to you.

  2. That is a great picture of the Monty next to the Guppy.

An yes - The Tillamook Cheese Factory. One of Kates favorite places. Stopped once and took the tour going southbound and Kate liked it so much we had to stop again going north.

I owe several of my residual pounds to Tillamook Foods and their delicious dairy products.
