Valley of Fire, Nevada State Park

Friday Dave and Betsy McNair and I toured the Valley of Fire, Nevada State Park. This park is in Don and Gail DeCaria's back yard. The eastern entrance is about 13 miles from their house. The rock formations have a distinct red color and really light up like flame when the rising or setting sun shine on them.

The rocks have some very unique formations like the elephant. My picture does not do it justice. The rock looks like the trunk of an elephant.
Balancing rocks and just rugged hollowed out formations.

Finally is the petroglyphs found on some rock faces.

The soft sand allow strange foot prints and critters.

There is even a flower baskets in the rocks.
As well as flowers blooming. Spring is beautiful.

  1. Holy Cow! This place is incredible! Your pictures have incentivized us to take a day trip to the valley as well as the dam. OK maybe two day trips. Simply beautiful......
