This Blog will cover three days of travel from Haines, AK to Dawson City, YT. The country was beautiful but when you reach over load you have reached overload.
We had an enjoyable visit in Haines and drove to Fox lake. However fuel being expensive in rural areas we decided to get fuel in Whitehorse on the way. We also got a McDonalds at the Wallmart. The cleanliness of the McDonalds left something to be desired. Dave got the meal while I stayed with the truck. I was still working on crutches.
Climbing back up we noticed the fresh snow line on the mountain.
Again the vast beauty of wilderness
These were from Fox Lake campgrounds where we boon docked for the night in national campground.
Note the whit spots which are bugs.
We were less than 20 feet from the water. It was a tight 180 degree turn out of the camp site on dirt and Dave did a perfect job towing out. He is getting real comfortable with the aspect and positioning of the trailer.
This photo was at night with the wind.
Next morning with NO WIND and a great reflection.
A view from our window at the dinning room table.
We left Fox Lake and drove to a nice boon docking site.
This is the second cinnamon bun stop. It is claimed to be the largest.
The coke can should give you a feel for their size. Their sandwiches were as large too.
That is a 12 inch plate it is sitting on.
Butterflies in the parking lot as we were ready to leave.
Beautiful red flowers.
Can you say vast wilderness.
Our last leg from the boon docking site to Dawson City, YT. We did have to go across the Yukon river on the "free" ferry.
Can you say vast wilderness. Oh did I say that.
A fifth wheel like ours ahead of us.
The ferry coming back to off load and pick us up. He angled into the current and docked it perfect. I wonder why.
Yep a lady telling me where to go. She was making sure I was close enough to make room for the other fifth wheel to park next to me.
Here comes the second fifth wheel.
My turn to exit the ferry. Yes I did go SLOW.
The other fifth wheel coming off the ferry. They parked next to us in the camp grounds. He was a ham VP9KL who I talked to in Haines on 146.52 simplex. We had a nice visit with Doug and Carolynn.
This is the camp ground.
This makes me relive so much of our trip last year and makes me want to hitch up and make the trip again.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, except for the white spots!
