Southern Utah

I left Bryce Canyon for Monument Valley.
Stopped at Hatch Galaxy Dinner. Last year Dave & Betsy and I tried to get to Bryce Canyon from Knab. We stopped here for lunch and saw the big black could come in. The snow hit when we headed back south. We headed back before the snow hit. The owner remembered our visit. He and I had a nice chat.

I stopped at Wahweap Campgrounds and RV Park, Page AZ. It is a national park so my Senior National Pass worked for access and reduced camping fee. This is my boon docking parallel parked campsite.
A view across the water of Lake Powell.

Then I drove through norther Arizonia to Monument Valley.

Just some of the rock formations I saw along the drive.

 Coming into Monument Valley.

The day I toured Monument Valley we had some of their first rain for the season.
This photo from the door of my trailer.
The RV park was in a canyon.

On the tour of Monument Valley lead by one of the Navaho tribal members
The earthan hut "Hogan"
Grandma inside spinning wool by hand. And our tour guide.
Each tribe buns their hair different. Grandma is putting this young lady's hair in a bun and using a tie she made from virgin wool. The young lady happened to be from Costa Rica with her mom and dad (dad was American - teacher down there).

Only pressure held these logs in place.
Stopped at the tourists store and saw some beautiful Silver and Turquoise.

 Goats
Local Indian family home on the land and their hogan.
 Indian Chief.
 Horse back tour.

The eye. Notice the eye lashes.

Went north past Mexican Hat, Ut to Gooseneck State Park

View from my rear window.
I was about 10 feet from the edge with the back of my trailer.
 Rafters on the river.

I moved north of Moab 16 April for better internet coverage and will continue to work my way north to Walla Walla, WA by 1 May.

  1. Some beautiful scenery along the way for sure. After your time at Monument and the horse riding I guess I'll have to call you Tex from now on.

I imagine the night skies were something special up at goosenecks. Not much of anything near there. Heading for Denver today. See you in a couple of weeks.

  2. Did you go to Slot Canyon while you were in Page? You don't want to miss it.
