Windy on the Desert

Early this monring (Sunday), I woke up to the wind noise beating things on the trailer, it was 2 am. I checked the wind meter which showed 30mph. I pulled in the slides so the toppers would not get beat to shreds. They are calling for gusts up to 50 today.  The dust is something I have not experienced before. I have heard about it but know know a little of the feeling.

Yesterday we did pancakes so one couple who attends church on Sunday could have fresh pancakes instead of left overs. There were a total of 10. As usual I did the pancakes and others brought fruit, banana bread, bacon and sausage. All the pancakes were gone this time.

Earlier in the week the wind was low in the morning so I flew the yellow Slow Stick even though the temperature was around 50 degrees. Had to log a little flying time.

I have been able to help a couple of units with their inverters. They want to power some items without running the generator so we wired a switch into the circuit that selects input power from either the inverter or the normal circuit breaker. This allows them to watch TV without running the generator. Quiet time out here is a treasure. The open space, lack of lights and quite is what draws a lot here. Then of course is the low cost for staying here.

I will be leaving here Wednesday going to the YPG if they have room for the night to dump tanks and do laundry. Then up to Lake Havasu, AZ, Laughlin, CA and finally Las Vegas to visit friends.

  3. Was windy here yesterday too. Still stuck in Tucson with Colds, but feeling a little better so tomorrow we are going up to Roosevelt Lake... finally. We can continue to recuperate up there.
