Helpful Project

Yesterday was a fun day. David and I went to town. I picked up some more Keurig Vue coffee from Bed Bath and Beyond. They are one store that I know carries the new Vue coffee. Then we went to Home Depot and purchased hardware to improve his trailer and I got some chain to secure my generators. I was using a small garage door cable but feel the chain is a little harder to sever and relieve me of my equipment. David mentioned liking Sushi and I mentioned I knew a good Sushi restaurant near the Dodge dear so that was lunch. Umm good. One last stop at my Solar shop of choice. He is the one that helped me solve a bogus reading on my 12vdc monitoring system (another technical story some other time).  We got back to the BLM and started on The improvement to Davids unit. I was going to write all the technical details but will just say I installed to switches that allow him to select power from his inverter or from the outside power wire (pedestal or generator). These switches feed the kitchen and living room circuits.

The last couple of night I have heard some of the Deserts creatures. I heard some coyotes howling off in the distance. That was an errie sound and feeling. Outside at 3 am, letting the dog do her bladder alarm business, with no protections and not knowing how far away they were. They say the coyote is afraid of man and will stay away. I hope so.  This morning with a 5 am bladder alarm call I hear an owl off in the distance.

I have completed a couple project on my trailer too. I wired the router into a 12vdc feed instead of 120vac transformer. The allows me to get on the computer and internet without starting my inverter or generator. Along those line I wired a switch at my computer desk that turns off all the extension cords feeding my different charging systems. This allows me to turn it off saving power when I am running my inverter and turn it one when I am using the generator. Lots of things to learn when you are living off the grid.
