My stop in New Bern, NC with Jim and Vickie allowed Jim and I to build two support items out of PVC to allow me to quickly raise and lower my weather station and TarHeel Screwdriver Ham Radio antenna which are mounted to the back of the trailer.
I arrived at Jim's around 1 pm on the 23rd of Nov. The first thing we did was let Jim test drive the new hydraulic disc breaking system on the trailer. He was impressed as much as me. Then we went to work building the PVC pip support system. That took us about Three hours. We were going to go out and eat but when Vickie got home she claimed she had to many left overs so I "suffered with left over turkey, dressing, potatoes and all that great stuff".
Saturday morning, 24 Nov I moved down to Ruel and Harry's, Jacksonville, NC for the weekend. We had a great time catching up, telling stories and again I "suffered" with some left overs.
Monday, 26 Nov I drifted south to Myrtle Beach for a nights stop. I stayed at Ocean Lakes Family Campground which was right on the beach. I saw Barry and Dale. They took me by their son-in-laws business which also houses his 11 year old "semi-pet" Mountain Lion (Cougar).
This cat has it better than most. It's home is air conditioned and has an indoor and outdoor run. The cage is double fenced . Normally a cat like this lives about 7 years in the wild and up to 14 in captivity. This one is 11 and doing well.
MOCHA is a cougar/mountain lion. Years ago Chuck rescued him from a local young man who didn't have the slightest idea of how to take care of her. Chuck then contacted Doc Antle who runs the Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species T.I.G.E.R.S. and the doctor taught Chuck how to care for Mocha. The State of South Carolina sent officers to inspect the facilities that we built for Mocha and declared it to be the best in the state (it is not against the law to have such animals).
Tuesday, 27 Nov I moved down to Eagle Hammock FAMCAMP, Kings Bay Sub Base, GA for the night. It is a very nice park.
Wednesday, 28 Nov I finished the trip with a brunch stop in Orange Park, Fl with George. Then an easy two hour drive down to Olde Mill Stream.
I have been walking 2 miles every morning with Frank since I got here. Then I normally will go fly the planes until the wind picks up too much. Over 5 MPH is my limit. I copied Dick's idea for a transport frame he uses in the back of his SUV. I modified it to work on my toneau.
This week I have helped install Plexiglass like material on two screen doors making them storm doors so light can still come in yet keep the heat or cold in or out respectively.
Yesterday I helped build a plane like my yellow one shown in the picture.
