Early September Filling four States on the RV Map

I left the Rockies heading for Oklahoma. I mentioned my travel plans on Facebook and received a reply from Mark and Vicki suggesting I stop by for coffee and a possible nights stop. I did notice the flat land around Denver, CO.
We had never meet eye ball to eye ball. Mark and I had communicated on Facebook and the MOC forum.
Great folks with a nice visitors RV site.
Home built smoker that was put to use two days after I left. Poor timing on my part.
Home made BBQ that does a great job on food, I had first hand tasting from this one.
I ended up staying an extra night. Great hospitality. They took me into Denver and helped me spend money.  Normally that is my job helping others spend theirs.
I moved on to my cousins in Oklahoma. Notice the flat lands.
My cousin Steve was building this house so I helped where I could.
He needed two slabs of stone 220 lbs each hauled from Oklahoma City about 150 miles away. We made the trip Friday with the dually.
Here they are mounted as the fire place hearth. Nice job.

I helped prep the rooms for painting.
I helped assemble the kitchen and bathroom drawers and then installed the drawer slides in the cabinetry.

I left Steve heading for Arkansas. I decided to make the trip in two days so I stopped at the Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa, OK. I had a complementary cheese burger meal at Toby Keith Restaurant. Military get the meal one time. Thanks for the support Toby. I also got lucky with the slots and walked out with enough for another paid meal. That does not normally happen.

I have traveled with David and Linda off and on for the last two years. I received an invite to visit David's parents, Joe and Lou. Joe is retired Army. We did get along.  I am told I have been adopted and can return.
I offered to help if needed and Joe said the wood on the porch needed painting. As stated above I do not like indoor painting but this job did not bother me.  It does look nice if I do say so myself.

 Their guest rv pad.

Joe showed me this spring a mile from their house. Many haul water from it.
I was invited to go fishing with a close friend of Joe and Lou's. He caught two rainbows and tried his darnedest to get me on fish. It was not my day.  Others did catch some.  I waded into the 58F river for a little bit.

Joe and Lou took me on a tour of the area.
Lots of photos taken of places in Flippin.
I drove down to Blanchard Springs Caverns.

Ranger boats are built about 15 miles from their house. Joe and I took a factory tour.
Spraying fiberglass and resin on the top section. They are built upside down so final coat on the surface is sprayed into the mold first. This is the structure coats and about the last.

These people rub the fiberglass and resin into place so it is a solid surface for structure support.
Here is a top section just removed from the mold.
This water jet machine cuts the openings.
You can see a couple of the openings with waste material still in it.
The hull (bottom) and top sections are assembled together.

Yep a big fishing boat with trolling motor.

Finished product going out the door on its trailer.

Again I was informed I was passing right by Leonard and Marilyn's house with and invitation to spend the night.  Great MOC family.

  1. I love to take tours on how things are made. I think seeing a boat made would be interesting. When do you plan to be here? Bill and I are just hanging out until the party starts.
