I had a great time at the Mid Atlantic Rally at the
Willowtree RV Resort, Longs, Sc. It is a very nice park. That last time I was
there was the last true camping event Ann and I had 13 – 16 Jan 2012. Ann was
still weak but getting stronger. We remembered her shopping for clothes that
fit with the ladies. When Ann came back she was modeling her size 10 clothes
and pushing her wheel chair with the other clothes sitting on the seat. Thanks
to all that made that time so great for her. All but one of the couples that were
at the Jan event was here for the rally.
Nikki (puppy) brought fleas from PA with her. I have been
washing her every two days removing about 50 or more fleas. Thursday the 16th
I took her to a Vet and got medication for Nikki and flea spray for the
trailer. Friday she went to the groomers and got her hair cut. Ann would have
been proud of her.
I left Tuesday morning and planned on doing 350 miles. I
call my friend, Chad in Knoxville who has been fighting Cancer for six years. He
mentioned he could not meet me at a restaurant because he was having issues
with it currently. I was not planning on going to their house because of the
long drive I had already planned. However, I remembers how much it pleased Ann
to have friends come visit when she know time was near so I adjusted my plans.
I added an extra 100 miles to my Tuesday trim and spent the night just west of
my friend’s house. I parked the trailer and drove back to visit with him
because the next time I was through this area he might not be here and I would
kick myself. With that same thought on my way to Knoxville I passed within 3
miles of another ham friend, Tim and took time for a 15 minute chat at his house.
Again I am glad I did.
Wed 22 Aug I did the 350 mile trip for my next stop and
arrived a day early because of the added 100 miles to Knoxville. It has cooled
off some here in southern Indiana. I have the windows open and the Fantastic
fans running. This is much better than running the Air Conditioner.
The truck has performed superbly pulling the hills around
Knoxville and holding us back on the downhill side. I LIKE MY TRUCK. Some of my
friends have heard that before. The
truck seemed to pull some of the grades in sixth gear when I expected it to
down shift. I just grinned. The 60 gallon mid (belly) fuel tank works great I
fill up between 350 and 500 miles where before it was 200 to 275.
I have been able to run the inverter during the day and
power the refrigerator off AC instead of propane saving energy and cost. I
really like my solar panels. The backup cameras installed on the trailer work
great. The APRS (ham tracking program) is working great and people are able to
track my travels. It is working because of the dedicated 12VDC feed from the
battery to my extra fuse block that was installed. The Mud flaps on the truck
work great. Thanks to Jim and Harry for helping me get the fully functioning
with all the above items.
I plan on being at Sioux Falls, SD on Monday the 27th.
